DESCRIPTION:Every year\, KA volunteers decorate hundreds of eggs filled with treats for children in the community. They hang from the fence at the Big Yellow House. We love this project because it gives the community a chance to mingle and welcome the warm Spring air. This has been a tradition for a long time!

SUMMARY:ARTWORK FOR LYFP
DESCRIPTION:In honor of the 5th birthday\, we would love to add some new art to the rotation.  Feeling creative?  Then join in on the fun!  Here is how it will work: \n\n\n\n– Entrants will create a piece of art on white posterboard that is the shape required to fit the pantry.  Posterboard pieces will be available for pick up at our home in South Arlington\, Virginia or can be mailed if the artist is outside the metro DC area. \n\n\n\n– Entries can be made with paint or pastel crayons.   \n\n\n\n– All entries should include the words Little Yellow Free Pantry (printed\, not cursive) \n\n\n\n– Other than those words\, it is artist choice on colors\, decoration\, style\, etc. \n\n\n\n– Categories:  ages 1 – 10\, ages 11 – 18\, and over 18 \n\n\n\n– Photos of entries will be posted here and readers will vote for the winning pieces \n\n\n\n– Artists whose entries are chosen must then recreate the work on a piece of wood that is the same size as their original piece.  Wood may be picked up at our home in South Arlington\, VA\, and if the winning artist is outside the DC metro\, the wood can be mailed. \n\n\n\n– The winning pieces will be displayed in rotation on the LYFP. \n\n\n\nPLEASE JOIN IN!  Artists of any age and ability can participate.

DESCRIPTION:Library is officially OPEN for the month of February! \n\n\n\nBecause of amazing donors\, we have a robust collection of books just waiting to be read.  We have books for all ages and about many different topics.  There is poetry\, children’s picture books\, biography\, graphic novels\, fiction\, non-fiction – we have a lot!! \n\n\n\nThe library is in a wooden cabinet on our front porch and is open to all.  You must set up a free account to check out books.  To get an account and details\, simply email us your name and email address (send to kindnessactivist@gmail.com).  Once you have an account\, you simply scan the QR code on the library\, choose up to 5 books to borrow\, and start reading!  Books can be checked out for up to 2 weeks at a time.

Fillmore and 2nd St (Arlington\, VA) to countdown with us.  Today is day 1 – find the right door\, peek inside\, and get your treat.  Please take only one per day.  Note: weekdays\, we will likely be filling the calendar each day in the early evening.  This will be to keep kids going and coming from school from taking all of the treats.
